RICHARD STOTT

What contributions will you make to BTGP? I've accepted an invitation to be a BTGP trustee, and I supply MOR product from my business, Propel Brands, to help with fundraising. I'm also a dab-hand at helping co-host and organise events, making rooms look and smell fabulous!

What's one of your favourite sayings? “Surround yourself with people who are going to lift you higher” Oprah.

That quote inspired one of mine that I coined just after turning 40: “I am half dead now, and the next 40 years are going to be amazing and only surrounded by cheerleaders” - Richie Stott

What inspires you? I listen to Wayne Dyer ‘Everyday Wisdom’. You don’t need to listen to the whole thing, just use whatever time you have and pick up from anywhere. It’s so simple and centres me.

What was a defining moment in your life? Reading ‘You Can Heal Your Life’ by Louise Hay.

Another time was when I was going through a lot of pain and changes in my life, a dear friend pulled me aside and said, “Don’t bore anymore people, just bore me”. If anyone asks, 'How're you going?' Reply, "Amazing!" It changes moods. Try it!

Any books that have changed your paradigm? Why? ‘You Can Heal Your Life’ by Louise Hay. This book introduced me to the power of the mind and thought, and taught me to forgive and about gratitude. It was also the beginning of my journey to spirituality and self-development.

What’s the biggest challenge facing young people today? Believing in themselves and the lack of education about mindfulness, gratitude and just being kind, not only to others but to themselves.

What’s your favourite form of creative expression? Arts… all of them! Painting, dancing, acting etc…  because it is an outlet for people to express themselves. Also it is so subjective and can mean so many things to each individual experiencing it.
